چکیده

Arteriographically Visualized Extravasation in Hypertensive Intracerebral Hemorrhage • Seven cases are reported in which extravasation of contrast medium from the lateral lenticulostriate artery was observed on cerebral angiography performed in the early stage of hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage. We advance the theory that continuous bleeding from the ruptured artery with mechanical destruction and displacement of cerebral tissue is the cause of massive hematoma formation, and discuss the possibility of surgical treatment of the acute stage of hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage. Advances in CT for prediction of hematoma expansion in acute intracerebral hemorrhage

6 539 551 Intracerebral haemorrhage accounts for 10–15% of all strokes and is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Early hematoma expansion, which occurs in approximately a third of patients leads to worse outcomes. Prediction of expansion may aid in the identification of patients most likely to benefit from novel medical or surgical therapies. Intrahematoma contrast density seen on CT...

Evolution of computed tomography angiography spot sign is consistent with a site of active hemorrhage in acute intracerebral hemorrhage.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE CT angiography spot sign predicts hematoma expansion in patients with acute intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). The spot sign may represent a site of active extravasation, a locus of arrested hemorrhage forming fibrin globes, or represent associated epiphenomena such as hypertensive microaneurysms. We sought to describe the evolution of spot signs over 60 seconds in acute ICH...

Extravasation of radiographic contrast is an independent predictor of death in primary intracerebral hemorrhage.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Hematomas that enlarge following presentation with primary intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) are associated with increased mortality, but the mechanisms of hematoma enlargement are poorly understood. We interpreted the presence of contrast extravasation into the hematoma after CT angiography (CTA) as evidence of ongoing hemorrhage and sought to identify the clinical signific...

Contrast extravasation on computed tomography angiography predicts clinical outcome in primary intracerebral hemorrhage: a prospective study of 139 cases.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Several retrospective studies suggested that contrast extravasation on CT angiography predicts hematoma expansion, poor outcome, and mortality in primary intracerebral hemorrhage. We aimed to determine the predictive value of contrast extravasation on multidetector CT angiography for clinical outcome in a prospective study. METHODS In 160 consecutive patients with spont...

Rate of Contrast Extravasation on Computed Tomographic Angiography Predicts Hematoma Expansion and Mortality in Primary Intracerebral Hemorrhage.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE In primary intracerebral hemorrhage, the presence of contrast extravasation after computed tomographic angiography (CTA), termed the spot sign, predicts hematoma expansion and mortality. Because the biological underpinnings of the spot sign are not fully understood, we investigated whether the rate of contrast extravasation, which may reflect the rate of bleeding, predict...
